Here is a sample family portrait list to help you start preparing what shots you need. This list shows how I typically flow through the family formals on the wedding day to get everyone back to the party as quickly as possible while still getting great photos! I know that these images are often used as gifts to the family so I don’t like to miss shots. I love for all family members to stick around for all the family portraits so we don’t have to search for people if we need them again. The most important thing is to remind any family that they will need to stay at the ceremony site after the ceremony for family formals. I will guide everyone to the photo location a few minutes after the ceremony. There’s nothing worse than having one family member disappear to the bar, stalling the photos. However, if this happens, anything we miss we can always grab at the reception.
